Wood County, WV Arrests & Jail Inmate Records

How To Search Wood County Arrest Records

Every year, West Virginia reports more than 32,300 arrests, and around 1,523 arrests are made in Wood County. The West Virginia Freedom of Information Act gives the public the right to inspect or copy public records, including arrest records. This law allows individuals to view the records freely, but they must pay between $1 and $30 for copies of the arrest records.

However, some arrest records are closed to the public due to several reasons, such as privacy concerns and ongoing investigations. These include medical records, juvenile records, and sealed records. Despite the restrictions, the Wood County Prosecutor's Office, individuals named on the record, the sheriff's office, local police departments, and judicial officers may access the closed records.
