There are no local police departments within the county. However, Waynesboro and Staunton are independent cities located within the county's boundaries. Record seekers may check their respective Police Departments (Waynesboro Police Department and Staunton Police Department) for arrest records of the county's residents who may have been arrested outside the county's jurisdiction.

The Criminal and Applicant Records Exchange (CARE) of the Virginia State Police maintains a centralized database of all criminal records across Virginia, including those from Augusta County.
