Records maintained by the Sheriff's Office cost $5, while background checks cost $10. Furthermore, requesters may search for inmates in the county by name, date of birth, or booking and release date using the Sheriff's Office Jail Records Inquiry.

Communities in Ector County have the power to establish local police departments to provide law enforcement services at the municipal level. After an arrest, the law enforcement agency that executed the arrest may file criminal charges at the District Courts, County Courts, or Justice Courts depending on the nature of the arrest. Criminal case records of these courts may contain details of arrests that result in official charges. These records are maintained by the Ector County District Clerk and are available online through the county's case search portal.
