Bedford County, TN Arrests & Jail Records

Members of the public may obtain arrest records from the Bedford County Sheriff's Office by visiting in person during regular business hours, which are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The office is located at the Bedford County Justice Complex, 110 Northcreek Drive, Shelbyville, TN 37160.

Arrest records are available to the public through the Records Division of the arresting Police Department. Individuals requesting these records may need to provide information about the incident and the person involved. The Wartrace Police Department and the Shelbyville Police Department both provide law enforcement services to municipalities within the county.

Upon request, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) makes criminal history information available to the public. Anyone may conduct an online background check on an adult using the Tennessee Open Records Information Services (TORIS) for $29. This system provides access to records of misdemeanor and felony arrests and indicates whether the individual has a criminal record.

Besides the online option, individuals may request a background check by filling out the Tennessee Criminal History Information Request Form. This request may be submitted either in person or by mail. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation also provides fingerprint-based background checks, commonly used for licensing and employment purposes. This service costs $37.15 and begins with the applicant obtaining an Originating Agency Identification (ORI) number from the employer. The applicant must then schedule a fingerprinting appointment through the IdentoGO website for Tennessee. During the appointment, a valid ID must be presented and the required fee paid. Once processed, the fingerprint results are sent directly to the employer.

Arrest information for criminal cases filed in either the General Sessions Court or Circuit Court may be accessed through the Circuit Court Clerk's Office. The county also offers an Online Court Records System, which allows anyone to search for criminal case information.
