Anchorage Municipality accounts for about 9,000 arrests per year out of the 22,000 arrest cases in Alaska. The public has access to criminal records information, including arrest records under the Alaska Public Records Act (APRA). However, victim information, ongoing investigations, and juvenile records are not available for public disclosure. This is to protect the privacy of the subjects on the record. The law, however, permits the police, sheriff, District Attorney, and courts unlimited access to these records.
Members of the public may petition several agencies when seeking arrest records. Agencies that provide arrest records are law enforcement agents, the Alaska Department of Public Safety, and the court of law.
There are a number of options to explore when obtaining arrest records from the police. A police department will allow you to submit requests online, by mail, or visit them in person at their physical address.
Requests may be made online via an online records center. You will also be required to fill out and submit a consent form which will need to be attached to your request. An online request usually involves visiting a "record request portal" and submitting a case or incident number.
Also, you may confirm the availability of the specific police department if you intend to visit, by consulting their website or contacting them by phone. The Anchorage Police Department serves the Municipality of Anchorage, protecting its citizens and upholding justice.
You may either use a name or fingerprint-based search to obtain criminal justice information from the ADPS. Your results may be mailed or faxed to you if you are conducting a name-based search. A name-based search costs $20 and an extra $5 for copies if you are requesting them at the same time with your arrest records. A fingerprint-based search costs $35, and you will be required to fill out the standard FD-258 FBI fingerprint form.
In addition, the public may access arrest records from the ADPS by visiting their office in person, you will be required to pay a $20 fee in cash or by money order when submitting your requests. You may visit any of the DPS locations to submit your in-person requests. However, if you are sending your requests via mail, you may reach out to the following address:

In comparison to other states, Alaska is unique in the fact that it does not have a Sheriff's Office. The Division of Alaska State Troopers serves in place of a Sheriff's Office, upholding the law and maintaining public safety. Note that Alaska State Troopers' criminal history records may sometimes be contained in the public criminal history records you get from the ADPS. To obtain an ADPS online criminal history record, follow these steps:
The Superior Court has jurisdiction over criminal cases in Anchorage Municipality. A court proceeding for a criminal case starts when a conviction happens. The Superior Court Clerk files these cases and indexes them. These records may be located on the CourtView Public Access website. Records that have been removed from the Courtview system may be reviewed at the Office of the Superior Court Clerk.
Although third-party websites such as InfoTracer may be a resource for finding public records, including arrest information, you may consider verifying the data with official sources.
